A Healing By Ink & Paper: How to Flip Anger or Grief

Here is a quick and casual writing exercise that encourages you to give the proverbial finger to the Universe.

Because sometimes that glass or bottle of wine just isn't enough. Sometimes the most healing thing is to actually get honest with yourself and your grief and to express that big F*ck YOU! that's stuck in your heart or your throat.

Now the key here, however, is to journal this. Don't flip the lid of your inner volcano and just spout that molten lava flow of explatives at whomever you think might be responsible for your anger! I know you might want to... but I do want to be clear that's not what I'm recommending you do here. 🙂

Instead, give the gift of this genuine expression to yourself and write down what pisses you off right now about your life.

Go ahead… it takes less than a minute. And it's incredibly cathartic to give voice to your anger, grief or any other painful emotion.

Where are your needs going unmet? What is holding you back that feels like it’s outside your control?

Also, don't try to spiritualize this.

Right now, in the truth of your pain, NOT everything happens for a reason.

NO, not every bad thing has a silver lining.

Maybe there IS evil and suffering and cruelty in this world that doesn't make sense.

Maybe you didn't have to hurt as much as you're hurting right now... and maybe it just doesn't look like there's any way out.

So be honest. Be true. And let the emotion and words flow. That flow in and of itself is healing.

Then... when you've written it all out and your heart splays the paper in ink... here's how to find the flip side of anger.
